Why she is a Kerrits Ambassador: Well, I think I already AM a Kerrits ambassador! I love your products, as I find that they are one of the few brands that fit my body type: tall, long arms, long torso, and athletic. I also live in a very hot, very humid place (Augusta/Aiken area) and spend most of my time in the southeastern US. Your products are so applicable to my lifestyle, that I often look to Kerrits first. I love spreading the word about any product or company that I believe in and have become somewhat of a go-to person for product recommendations with my riding friends and associates. I think I embody an important part of the Kerrit's target market: a serious amateur/owner with challenging riding goals, with an often overlooked body style, and who spends HOURS either in the saddle, in the barn, or at competitions. I'd love to help consumers find a quality product, and help a quality company perfect their products for consumers.
Her Goals: My personal, professional, and equestrian goals are all so closely related that it's hard to define them. Personally, I'd like to continue to increase my strength so that I can be a better rider for my enormous green horse. I'd also like to create a successful side business centered around my equestrian art which focuses on pastel drawings and painted images on antique furniture. Additionally, I'm working on creating an online publication that reports primarily on products and reviews, equestrian sports, and the equestrian community and lifestyle.
My professional goals are difficult to assess as my husband is in the military and my career will be taking a back seat for the next ten years. In the short term I'd like to continue growing my career as a grant writer, and focus a portion of my efforts (even if in time donated) to equestrian charities. I'm working with an off-the-track thoroughbred retirement and placement group based in Florida right now. In the long term, my husband and I would like to get into the equestrian retail market, and would like to own our own tack store that caters to the English disciplines.
My riding goals are the most satisfying, because I can work on them regularly. I own a very talented 5yo TB who was intended to be a prelim level horse for me. Baring any unforeseen issue, I think I'll have to adopt some bigger goals to keep him happy. By the end of this year I hope to compete in our first Novice level event. I'm new to eventing so this will be an exciting step for both of us. Additionally, this winter/spring I'd like to compete in some of the hunter/jumper series in Aiken, starting in pre-greens, moving to greens, and then seeing where we go from there. In a more casual sense, we also have plans to go out puppy walking with our local hunt this summer and work our way up to first flight.
Her Kerrits Story:
I have a lot of stories but nothing in particular. Many times my sit tight full seats have, well, kept me sitting tight when I'd otherwise NOT be sitting tight! There are actually days (windy days, jump school days, etc) where I specifically wear them "just in case". I also wear my Kerrits horse-embroidered jacket a lot and always get compliments. I don't remember it's name, but it's cranberry in color and is covered in little interlocking embroidered horses. My vet passed me when I was at a show on the way to an emergency and actually paused long enough to say "hey, nice jacket!".. kind of interesting coming from a guy!
