Ginger Kathleen Coombs
Owns Horse(s): Yes, several....
Primary discipline of riding: Dressage, eventing and trail riding as a family, with parades occasionally tossed in.
How often does she ride: 2-3 times a week, plus my daughters' sessions
Why she is a Kerrits Ambassador: Well, we already are ambassadors in our way. We use Kerrits for street wear, and our active outdoor life. In spite of being disabled, I am one of the most active people you'll meet. My husband uses cargo breeches and the Coach's coat and my little ones, ages 7 & 2, are outfitted, as our all of my horse-riding nieces thanks to your outlet sales especially! We love the breathablity, endurance and waterproof/circulation values of your clothing. We camp, canoe, ride and shop in them! I get a lot of questions and am very enthusiastic - getting out of the arena and into the world lets you enjoy the qualities of Kerrit's apparel. Plus I love the idea of sharing photos and blogging about our adventures using Oregon-based business attire and I am afraid I already am rather well known for one of my ideas of humor and sharing, my makeover photo in Kerrits hat and socks? Only hat and socks? (obviously Photoshoped as I wanted to be able to make it obvious I was wearing something!) But we are a 4-for-1 package, as we play together and ride together as a family. Additionally, as a advanced seamstress, I am constantly monitoring quality and cut of anything I wear. It would be lovely to have a ear for my suggestions to make the as usable as possible for real women and children! My daughters ride 3-4 times a week usually and my poor husband mostly only gets to ride in the summer for now, but he is looking to change careers from Engineer to something that lets him be outdoors more with us... For more of an idea of my photography, check out www.elijahparkphotography.com, or farm website is www.elijahpark.com and we also have a photography page on Facebook that I think Kerrits is a fan of...
Her Goals: I have met my professioanl goals, so for now, I am semi-retired and just enjoying devloping a new mare, my 6 year old friesian mare, and training our personal riding horses. I cannot get out as often as I like, but isn't that every working mother's lament? Both my husband and I ride nearly identical Warmblood mares that we intend to event and have started their lower level dressage. From here on out, it's a journey, one new level of the pyramid at a time. Watching our daughters grow, their passion for horses and acquisition of new skills is such a joy. Kathryn, my 7 year old, has worn Kerrits breeches since she was 3 and rides a section C welsh cob mare. She is starting to master jumping and has shown since she was 18 months old. This mare will debut in dressage and possibly a derby this season. My 2 year old cheerfully rides, loves her 'helmie' and plays on the mounting block an jump standards while we school once her rides are done. it is amazing to see what near total immersion does from their understanding of horse language. I am at a wonderful pint in my life where I can just savor the daily growth of the young ones in my care, 2 and 4 legged, and invest my life in taking time for others.
Her Kerrits Story: Oh, my, several, most of which I already have shared with the Kerrits staff. From getting swamped by a wave whale watching while wearing windsport fabric (everything else was totally SOAKED but everything under the vest was dry as can be) to managing to find leaks in heavy deluge in our coach's coats riding honor guard to a WWII soldier in the downpour of the November Fort Vancouver's Veterans Day Parade (ANYTHING would have leaked, I was thrilled at how they helped us get through!), I have stories of life lived while wearing Kerrits...
